A case of Spring Fever

by Nicole

March 05, 2010

As the official start of spring inches closer, anticipation from around the country is easy to see, on blogs, on Twitter, from your friends on Facebook (are you 'friends' with Teleflora yet?)… While the official start of Spring is March 20th (just over two weeks away!), Punxsutawney Phil – that most-famous groundhog – predicted 6 more weeks of winter this year.

If you just can’t take one more day of chilly weather and overcast skies, why not bring spring home?

  1. Think spring with some blooming plants as a gift to yourself or someone you love. A miniature rose takes your nose outdoors, and fits nicely on a bedroom side table.
  2. Bundle up and get outside! Just a few minutes of sunshine is good for your health, and can help prevent the effects of seasonal affective disorder, according to WebMD and the New York Times.
  3. Put yourself in a warm-weather from of mind with a tropical feast! Jamaican Jerk Chicken from AllRecipes packs a peppery heat, warming you up from the inside. Maybe a margarita or a daiquiri (virgin versions for the kiddos!) to top it off. Yum!
  4. Take a day pass – to a gym! Visit the hot tub and sauna to melt away the winter chill you’ve been feeling. Or, get on a swimsuit, visit the pool and pretend it’s a trip to the beach!
