Each year since 1950, the United States has celebrated Armed Forces Day on the 3rd Saturday in May. Armed Forces Day is a

day to reflect on the dedication and service of the men and women in all branches of the Armed Services, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard.
If you're looking for ideas on celebrating Armed Services Day, here are just a few:
- Download the Department of Defense's weekly 'Heroes' podcast - a 2-minute audio profile of a man or woman who has served and been awarded the Bronze Star or higher decoration.
- Attend a local Armed Forces Day celebration - check your local newspaper to see if your city is hosting a parade. Your nearest military installation (base or office, etc.) Public Information Officers may also be useful for finding local celebrations.
- Get together with friends or family and put together care packages for the servicemen and women who are stationed around the world and far from home. The Department of Defense has information on creating and sending care packages to troops on their Community Relations website.
